Would you rather be a giver or a receiver? Is it really better to give than to receive?
We have all been on both sides of the situation.
It’s such a great feeling when you are in a giver’s position, or to be the one sending a gift to somebody. As a receiver, it is comforting to know that you can count on a person when you need it the most.
However, most people would think that receiving is much more advantageous than giving or vice-versa, but in reality, it is a two-way street.
There exists a symbiotic relationship between the two. The very act of giving and receiving has its own benefits and drawbacks to the person performing it.
In giving, you feel blessed knowing that you are able to extend help to someone. But at the same time, you can be accused of just showing off, or your means of manipulation.
As a recipient, you may not like something that was given to you, especially if you didn’t ask for it. You don’t want to accept it, but how?
You will learn in this book that there is a gracious way of conducting such seemingly simple gestures. After applying it to my own dealings, giving feels just as good as receiving.
